Missouri Botanical Garden Beauties

SPRING HAS SPRUNG!!!! I spent the last couple of days with an old friend who came to St. Louis to visit. We had a fantastic time catching up and we spent yesterday at the Missouri Botanical Gardens. The gardens were founded in 1859 by Henry Shaw.  The Missouri Botanical Garden is the oldest of it's kind in operation in the United States and one of the few to achieve National Historic Landmark status. The tulips and bulbs were in full bloom and absolutely beautiful. The sun was shining and we were blessed with a beautiful day.  I will look forward to this spot and we will enjoy all of the beauty yet to come!

Stunning!  The colors were amazing throughout most of the gardens.
The roses were starting to bud and will be in bloom in no time!  I can't wait to go back!

Japanese Cherry Trees were all in blossom and so fabulous!

Painted vases - What was once old, is new again!

So I finally went to the Goodwill Outlet here in downtown St. Louis! I wanted to see what there was to offer my latest desire to find fun craft projects to keep me busy! I recently found a pin on Pinterest that someone painted the entire vase with one color which was beautiful, but I was shooting for something a little different! I found a large selection of old glassware and vases for .59 cents a pound, so I came home with $5 worth. I purchased some fun colors of Patio Paint acrylics on sale at Hobby Lobby and decided that I would try to make something for my master bathroom. By squirting, dripping and swirling, I love the effect it left behind on the vases. See for yourself! The possibilities are endless. Yes, I am making more! Total project cost me about $2 bucks!

Our Journey

This is my latest craft project. I am calling it "Our Journey." Each place represents a very important part of our lives. We have many great memories along the way and I wanted to make something to remind me of each of those times in our lives. We have many wonderful friends and faces to cherish and remember each day, as I walk by this new piece. It also covers a really ugly electrical box that I did not like to look at as soon as I walk in my front door, so YAY for that!

International Woman's Day

SO March 8th - TODAY is International Woman's Day. Who knew? I didn't. But, makes me think of all of the great women I have known in my life, and I am thankful for each and every one of them! CELEBRATE being a woman and the gift of life! Have a great day ladies. Love to you all.

This photo was taken in Madrid, Spain and reminds me of a time I spent with some of the most amazing women ever. I call them my best friends.....

Pinning

I have become obsessed with Pinterest.  Who hasn't right?  I'm calling it The New Facebook.  I no longer race to the computer to see who is saying what on Facebook - I grab my first cup of coffee and immediately see who is pinning the next fabulous DIY project or pattern or new fabrics.  I AM OBSESSED I TELL YA!!!  I am currently not working, so the amount of free time I have on my hands has been amazing!  Since moving to St. Louis, I have painted furniture and crocheted 2 scarves, a headband, and a hat - yes, I had to relearn how to crochet again it had been so long.  Thanks to the internet tutorials I found that as well.

Since moving in November, I have had so much fun and it's been really rewarding for me.  I love to create things with my hands and enjoy the heck out of them when they turn out the way I hoped!  Currently I am working on a canvas I am calling "The Journey.'  I am no anxious to finish it.  I will post a pic when I am finished!

The is one of my before and after furniture rehab projects.  Upcycled?  I think so.  Used to be an old office cabinet.  I now use it as a linen storage cabinet and it holds the TV in our bedroom.  Have to be creative with my new space, since I now live in a smaller space than I am used to!  LOVING LOFT LIFE!!!  No complaints!  More later ~
